Why choose in-home childcare?

Research supports that in home childcare is best for young children. Children have more interactions, can maintain individual routines, and keep much better health at home. 

Having a nanny at home doing all the tasks you would normally do means you come home and focus on being with your children.

 

What will a nanny do?

  • Care for and educate the children in her care.
  • Keep the children in the routine you have already established.
  • If appropriate (and with your approval) take the children out for walks to the park etc
  • Most nannies are happy to do the usual tasks involved in running a home including household management tasks such as washing, ironing, vacuuming, cooking etc. (you need to specify these clearly in the job description).

What are the minimum requirements for joining our service?

  • You must have a pre-schooler.
  • You must have a minimum of 12 hours per family e.g. (1 child x 12 hours, 2 children x 6 hours, 3 children x 4 hours).
  • Your position must go for 3 months or longer.
  • You must have a 'child safe home' e.g. fenced property, guarded heating, a first aid kit, and any pools fenced.
  • You must be willing to have a Programme Manager from The Nanny Company visit your nanny and children each month in your home.

What do I need to provide?

  • A clear job description of what you actually want the nanny to do (we supply a sample).
  • A vehicle to drive if you want children transported, or a vehicle mileage reimbursement (the IRD currently suggest .62¢ per kilometer as a fair reimbursement).
  • A contract which provides the terms and conditions you have both agreed to (we supply a sample).
  • Open communication with the nanny and The Nanny Company so we can work together.
